Today is Thursday which usually means this would be a Research Thursday post, across the paywall. But, as this is the Holiday Week, this will be a product review - on the free side.
Baby Café
I heard about a new product last week when I joined my daughter and my new granddaughter (!) at the Middlesex Baby Café held in Melrose, Massachusetts. About 10 new mothers and their babies were there. Lucia Jenkins led the group. Lucia brought the Baby Café concept over to the United States from the United Kingdom years ago. Baby Cafe USA Link
It was a terrific meeting - we stayed for over two hours.
boon Trove
Lucia led a discussion where we went around the room and the moms introduced themselves and their babies and they brought up any issues of concern or questions they had. One mother mentioned the issue of leaking from one side when breast-feeding from the other. Another mother stated that she really liked the Trove. The Trove? I had never heard of it.
As my daughter is definitely dripping when breastfeeding, I wanted to check it out. I went on Amazon and ordered it for about $14. To be clear, I have no financial affiliation with this company at all but wish to share this information with you.
You place it on the breast from which you wish to catch drips and then push it in to create a gentle suction. It sits easily in the bra.
It stands on its own.
And has an easy to use pour spout.
It holds about 3 ounces, is made of 100% silicone, and is easy to clean.
Absolutely a thumbs up!
Please forgive my comments, but my concern is about the product, if a lactating mum uses the suction is there any instructions recommending the length of time they use it. My other concern would be hyper lactation with the pressure of the suction being used.
Congratulation on the Baby Cafe initiative.
I LOVED the Trove in the early days of breastfeeding. Much more user friendly than the Hakaa (which I did also like if I wasn’t trying to use it while nursing from the opposite breast).
