This post is about rubella, another one of the TORCH infections. TORCH is an acronym used to help remember a group of infections that cause congenital issues if a fetus is exposed to them in utero. TORCH stands for:

  • Toxoplasmosis

  • Other (syphilis, varicella-zoster virus or chickenpox, fifth disease or parvovirus, HIV)

  • Rubella

  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

  • Herpes simplex

Rubella is also known as German Measles or 3-day Measles.
