Here are some thoughts.

This issue of Breastfeeding Medicine, the journal of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, is a Centennial Tribute to Dr. Ruth A. Lawrence.

Certain figures are known by one name. There’s Cher, Madonna and there’s Ruth.

Dr. Lawrence, thank you for your brilliance and non-stop advocacy in the support of breastfeeding over all these years. With the utmost respect, I wish you the happiest of birthdays.

As this study shows, we still have work to support the duration of breastfeeding and to level the playing field. Our work continues - just as Dr. Lawrence taught us.
